Information You Submit
A name, location, or other query entered in a search tool is sent to the third-party provider operating that tool. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
If you send an email or contact message, we retain the information needed to respond. We do not share that message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical and Cookie Data
Standard technical records may include:
- IP address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages visited and time spent;
- the referring page, when available; and
- timestamps.
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.
How Data Is Used
- Operate and improve site performance.
- Send search requests to the selected provider.
- Understand which pages visitors find useful.
- Diagnose errors and security issues.
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Outside Sites and Advertising
Links may lead to Pitt County rosters, booking sources, Sheriff or NCDAC pages, court portals, federal locators, and third-party tools. After you leave, the destination’s privacy policy controls its collection and use.
Advertising partners may track activity across websites for interest-based advertising. That processing occurs through their systems and policies, not as a Pitt County government service.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may be received by search providers handling a query, analytics vendors, advertising networks, and law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Security Is Best Effort
Reasonable security practices are used, but no internet service, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. We cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law, you may ask for a copy of personal data we hold, request correction, request deletion, or object to certain processing. North Carolina public records maintained by agencies under Chapter 132 are controlled by those agencies, not this site.
Policy Revisions
This policy may change. A revised version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
